Cost Accountant

Job Description

- Develop and maintain cost accounting systems and procedures. - Analyze cost of goods sold (COGS) and identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction. - Manage inventory costing, including standard costing, FIFO, and other relevant methods. - Collaborate with the procurement team to analyze supplier costs and negotiate favorable pricing. - Ensure accurate and timely reporting of inventory levels and valuations. - Reconcile inventory accounts and investigate discrepancies. - Prepare and analyze cost reports, including gross margin analysis and profitability reports. - Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process. - Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations, including those specific to the fashion retail industry (e.g., handling seasonal inventory, markdowns, etc.). - Stay up-to-date on changes in accounting regulations and best practices. - Work closely with other departments, such as merchandising, operations, and finance, to improve cost efficiency. - Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to inventory control and financial reporting.

Job Requirements

- Cost Accounting and Financial Statements skills - Analytical Skills for financial data analysis - Experience in making Journal Entries (Accounting) - Finance knowledge for managing company finances - Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field - Strong attention to detail and accuracy - Excellent organizational and time management skills - Ability to work effectively in a team environment - Familiarity with the specific accounting restrictions and challenges within the fashion retail sector (e.g., handling seasonal inventory, markdowns, returns, etc.). - Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a plus. - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced level).
